US MEPS Survey — 2023
HC-251The Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS), conducted by AHRQ since 1996, collects nationally representative data on healthcare use, costs, and insurance coverage in the US. This explorer covers the 2023 Full-Year Consolidated file — 18,640 inscope respondents, 1,368 variables across 25 topic sections.
New to the Panel/Round notation? Variable suffixes like
See all individual reports → 31/42/53
(e.g. REFPRS31) mean "Round 3 of Panel 27 = Round 1 of Panel 28" — MEPS runs two overlapping
annual cohorts at once, so any calendar year's data is stitched from two concurrent panels' rounds. Plain
23 means "status as of 12/31/2023."
